Overview

Do you currently hold a Class A CDL? Are you interested in becoming more involved in the construction field?

 

This position exists for the primary purpose of providing assistance to a crew chief in performing geotechnical and environmental subsurface investigations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, labor for handling drill tooling, driving support vehicles, assisting crew chief with monitoring for safety on job sites. 

 

This position is generally full time, generally Monday through Friday, with occasional early morning start times depending on job location and site requirements.  Work day end times vary depending on project size, location or deadlines. Weekend work is not uncommon, but limited when possible.

 

Travel is typically within 300 miles, with overnight stays common for trips longer than 50-60 miles away. Most projects can be completed in 1 to 2 days. Occasionally, projects will last for several weeks, and can be more than 300 miles away from operation base. Per diem will be paid for project related overnight stays.    

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Receive, understand and execute verbal directions.
  • Assist with navigation to job sites (sometimes remote) effectively and safely.
  • Assist with routine maintenance, repairs and cleaning of equipment.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections on vehicles and document properly.
  • Maintain DOT health card.
  • Maintain daily drivers log book.
  • Ability to safely work with hollow stem augers with standard penetration testing.
  • Ability to safely work with wet rotary drilling with standard penetration testing.
  • Ability to safely work with wireline and conventional rock coring tools.
  • Ability to perform all tasks safely.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and adhere to all company guidelines for operation and safety.

Qualifications

  1. Must be able to move, lift or carry objects or materials 75 to 100 lbs. without assistance.
  2. Ability to work outdoors in climate extremes (hot/cold).
  3. Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communications in the English language, including the ability to communicate directly and over the telephone and be understood.
  4. Hold a valid US Driver's License.
  5. Preference will be given to candidates that hold a current Class A CDL.
  6. Have a High School diploma or equivalent
